Finishing Third Year Right

My Second Half’s Classes…and other changes from the new year.

So I didn’t quite keep up as much with my productivity these past few months, and definitely not with trying to keep up my writing habits.

I’ve been 50/50 split between working in nvim and emacs themselves, but since this blog sits in `.org` files (and frankly I can’t get over how awesome they are), I’m trying to stick with emacs and keep working on my configuration.

So, we’re back with `org-mode`, `org-roam`, anything bibtex, and the awesome HTML read-the-org theme for exporting to HTML. Latex has always been a challenge to work with, especially for large swaths of content, so I think I’m going to keep my notes only in HTML form on this blog, hidden away from my main pages.

Things:

  • Org-roam does not exist well with my note-taking for school, so I’ve written my own (bad) elisp for some (broken) functionality to add definitions to my org-mode documents at the bottom for notes and reviews.
  • I’ve managed to import and sync my gcal using the `org-gcal` which has been interesting, but might not end well in terms of syncing all my events since there’s many.
  • I’ve got slightly more motivations about my side projects this year, so hopefully those will actually get done by the time the summer starts, but I’ve also got a lot going on so no guarantees there.

Now to the not interesting part, my classes:

Code Description Interest (?/5)
CPS521 Introduction to Data Science 4
CPS616 Algorithms 2
CPS706 Computer Networks I 3
ENT500 New Venture Startup 5
CACC100 Intro to Financial Accounting 4

Ratings these days are on the rise, as I’m getting a bit more flexible with my courses. Trends show I’m getting into finance, because if I can’t get a minor in time then I might as well learn something useful.

616 and 706 are required courses, so those are ranked lowest, but I have hope for 616 and might write a bit about it in the future. Algorithms are cool and all but not exactly my favorite.
